Founded in 2013, YI South has offices in Houston and Austin, and advocates for the economic security of young adults in Texas and the broader Southern region. The team has worked on top issues related to workforce development, higher education, and health care. Currently we’re focused on two key priorities for young adults: the intersection between workforce development and higher education, and access to mental health services.

We regularly provide technical assistance to policymakers and the press on the impact of proposals on young adults, testify in front of the state legislatures, and present at major conferences and festivals. Since our founding, we have trained over 4,500 young adults across the state on best practices for advocacy, higher education, and health care policy, as well as on important consumer protection information.  We continue to grow our leadership network in Austin, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, and the Rio Grande Valley.

Read below for research and policy priorities related to economic opportunity for young adults in the area. If you’re interested in partnering or joining our work in Texas or the South more generally, we’d love to hear from you!TX Agenda Banner
