This week, Young Invincibles’ Rocky Mountain Regional Director, Christina Postolowski, testified during the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions hearing, Stabilizing Premiums and Helping Individuals in the Individual Insurance Market for 2018. Christina served as the only consumer advocate across the four hearings, representing the experience of young adults shopping for and using health insurance.
In her testimony Christina discussed the significant health care gains made by young people since implementation of the ACA and where we must go from here to ensure young people can get covered. Christina discussed the need for cost sharing reductions and reinsurance, the importance of outreach and assistance in assuring youth enrollment, and proposals for making coverage for young people more affordable. She also share her own experience with being denied coverage due to a chronic condition, and the shortcomings of being covered through Colorado’s former high-risk pool.
