Meet our Midwest Youth Advisory Board
Joy Brown
Why did you join the Youth Advisory Board? I joined the YAB because I want to serve as a strong advocate and ambassador on behalf of YI. I’m dedicated to raising awareness around important education related issues and expanding economic opportunity for young adults in Illinois.

Why did you join the Youth Advisory Board? I joined the YAB because I wanted to meaningfully contribute to local policy issues that impact people aged 18-34, including myself. Specifically, higher education and student debt reform.
Marissa Epps
Why did you join the Youth Advisory Board? I joined the YAB to continue to learn and ameliorate current issues that affects our society. The platform of being a YAB allows me to be a voice, advocate, and make a difference.

Why did you join the Youth Advisory Board? The YAB’s ‘think tank’ approach to organizing empowers young people to serve their communities by allowing members to participate in decision-making process to address the most crucial community issues. It is unlike any community organizing experience I’ve had before and I look forward to continuing to serve on the YAB.

Why did you join the Youth Advisory Board? I joined the YAB because it was my chance to first-hand experience I can make changes in healthcare and issues related to mental health from the political perspective. Starting the conversation from political stakeholders and community based advocates was always a hope and YI made it a reality.
