Healthy for the Holidays Weekend of Action Recap

Our Healthy for the Holidays weekend of action was a huge success! From December 8-11th, we hosted a series of virtual and in-person events to provide vaccine information and connect with young adults nationwide about getting their FluBoo (Flu shot and Covid-19 Vaccine/Booster). Starting with an Instagram Live Panel and ending with a weekend full of community events and canvassing, we sent over 23,000 texts and met over 1,200 people through events and canvassing.

Our kick-off event was an Instagram Live Panel where speakers answered questions about the COVID-19 vaccines and shared the importance of information and getting vaccinated. We’re so thankful for our speakers: Dr. Matthew Igbinigie and Dr. Meenakshi Bewtra, Doctor of Public Health and Epidemiology, Board of Directors at Doctors for America.

You can watch the Instagram Live here.

On Friday, we hosted a virtual Textbank Happy Hour! Our five Outreach Specialists, Brooke, Jasmine, Christian, Jonathan and Raquael, did outreach to young adults in their state, reminding people to get vaccinated and providing a COVID-19 vaccine clinic finder. Our Outreach Specialist continued texting over the weekend and helped us send over 23,000 texts!

Saturday and Sunday, we held community and canvassing events in our five regions: Texas, Illinois, Colorado, New York, and California. We were able to directly connect with over 1,200 people and help point them toward helpful resources. In New York, we even got 54 people vaccinated against Covid-19 and the Flu!
