It’s been one week since our first Generation Vaxxed Weekend of Action and we’re still riding that high! If you were able to join us for one of our events or just want to see what we achieved, keep reading.
Through our Generation Vaxxed campaign, we’re having one-on-one conversations with young people, vaccine-hesitant people, and members of our communities. Our goal is to save lives and end the pandemic: full stop.
From February 3-6th, we hosted a series of virtual and in-person events to provide vaccine information and reach young adults. Starting with an Instagram Live Townhall and ending with a weekend full of community events and canvassing, we sent over 70,000 texts, met over 1,500 people through events and canvassing, reached 1.2 million people online, 548,000 people engaged with our #GenVaxxed hashtag online, and last but not least we did it all thanks to 63 young adult volunteers.
Our kick-off event was an Instagram Live Townhall where our panel of speakers answered questions about the COVID-19 vaccines, shared how the federal government is doing their part, and cleared up confusion about masks. We’re so thankful for our speakers: Hannah Bristol, Associate Director of the White House Office of Public Engagement, Dr. Meenakshi Bewtra, Doctor of Public Health and Epidemiology, Board of Directors at Doctors for America, and Dr. Alice Chen, Senior Advisor at Made to Save.

On Friday, we hosted a virtual Textbank Happy Hour! Our five Outreach Specialists Jocelyn, Alejandra, Jennifer, Ben, and Jourdyn hosted breakout sessions for volunteers to text young adults in their state reminding people to get vaccinated and providing a COVID-19 vaccine clinic finder. Our volunteers continued texting over the weekend and helped us send over 70,000 texts in total!
Saturday and Sunday, we held community and canvassing events in our five regions: Texas, Illinois, Colorado, New York, and California.
