- Dependent Coverage to 26: You can stay on a parent’s insurance until age 26.
- New Rights and Protections: New plans must give free preventive care without co-pays or coinsurance. Plans also can’t drop you if you have high medical costs, and plans must spend 80% of your premiums on care.
- Coverage for uninsured young adults with pre-existing conditions: See the “Insurance for Chronic Conditions” tab.
- All insurance must now provide these services without a co-pay or coinsurance:
- At least one “well-woman” preventive care visit annually
- Cervical cancer screenings (pap smears)
- HPV vaccinations for women under 27
- Screen and counseling for STIs, including HIV
- Breast-feeding support, counseling and supplies such as breast pumps
- Annual screening and counseling for domestic violence
- Sterilization methods
