President Obama at College Park

Last week, President Obama spoke to young people at the University of Maryland about health care reform. He told us something we’ve heard from our friends: In the United States, no one should go broke because they get sick.

At Thursday’s speech, cancer survivor Rachel Peck, a junior at the University of Maryland, asked “what happens if my cancer returns and I can’t pay for my radiation?” Rachel’s concerns about exclusions for preexisting conditions, the cost of health insurance, and the availability of coverage are echoed by young people with health concerns of every kind. Read the personal stories of young people in your area affected by the broken health care system here. Then, share your own story. The health care crisis is our crisis. The time for action is now.
