Young Texans Prioritize Affordable Health Care and Higher Education Ahead of the 89th Legislative Session
Young Invincibles Releases Their 2025 Texas Policy Agenda
(Austin, TX) – Today, Young Invincibles released their 2025 Texas policy agenda, outlining their top priorities for Texas’ 89th legislative session.
The 88th legislative session had detrimental effects on education, immigration, and the health of young adults, and the new session is expected to be similar. Young Invincibles and other advocacy groups anticipate playing a heavy defense this session, preventing harmful bills from passing the finish line, but won’t back down on passing key legislation.
This agenda outlines YI’s continued commitment to mental health, access to affordable health insurance, closing the coverage gap, health literacy, post-secondary readiness and completion, basic needs and supports for parenting students. Additionally, YI remains dedicated to protecting the rights of students to study and pursue knowledge and research, affordable and accessible higher education pathways, and critical workforce development during the 89th legislative session. Regardless of the tough political climate, YI will continue to advocate for key issues that young Texans want to address.
This agenda was crafted with the expertise of young adults and generous support from the Texas Youth Advisory Board.
In response, Travis Evans, Southern Regional Director at Young Invincibles said:
“Texas has consistently neglected the needs of young people, prioritizing political agendas over their well-being. Created by young Texans, for young Texans, our policy agenda serves as a necessary catalyst for change, thoughtfully shaped by the diverse perspectives and lived experiences of our state’s youth. The unpredictable political landscape of Texas has overlooked young adults’ concerns and jeopardized their mental, physical, and emotional health. As we enter the Texas 89th Legislative Session, it is critical the needs of young adults be prioritized and addressed with urgency.
We are eager to have our incoming cohort of young advocates engage with and educate key legislators on our 2025 policy priorities. As one of the leading organizations serving young adults, Young Invincibles will continue its dedication to amplifying young people’s voices and ensuring their rights are protected.”
