We are so pleased to welcome two new senior staff members to the YI team this month, Jesse Barba and Dy Brown. Learn a little more about Jesse and Dy:
Jesse Barba will be joining YI as Senior Director of External Affairs. In his role, Jesse will lead strategy, leadership, and high-level management of the public policy, research, government relations, communications, and digital teams. Before joining YI, Barba served as Vice President at Cassidy & Associates where he built strategy for engaging and navigating governments, policymakers, and stakeholders for clients in the technology, energy, and corporate spaces. He will join YI on November 18, 2019.
A few words from Jesse: “At a time when young people represent the largest voting bloc in the country, younger generations are being left with the short end of the stick. Though they face skyrocketing student debt, soaring healthcare costs, and efforts to suppress voting rights, young people are scrappy, resilient, and hungry for change. With the outsized impact young people have on our social, economic, and political lives, I am excited to join Young Invincibles and elevate the voices of this generation.”
Dyonicia “Dy” Brown has also joined YI as Senior Director of Regional Strategy. In her role, Dy will be responsible for developing the regional strategy for YI’s five regions and the expansion of regional and state offices in alignment with the organization’s advocacy program. Before joining YI, Brown served as Executive Director at Jack and Jill of America, Inc. a national nonprofit focused on strengthening children though leadership development, volunteer service, philanthropic giving, and civic duty. Her first day with YI was November 4, 2019.
A few words from Dy: “There has never been a more important time to ensure that the voices of young people are heard at every step of the political process. While today’s young people face unprecedented obstacles, they’ve also proven that they can rise above any challenge and achieve their dreams. I’m thrilled to join the Young Invincibles team and help create real, meaningful change for today’s young people and generations to come.”
