[Chicago] – On Thursday, January 29, Young Invincibles and other leading community organizations will team up to hold health care fairs in Chicago in the lead up to National Youth Enrollment Day – the biggest day of action across the country to enroll Millennials in the Health Insurance Marketplace this enrollment season.

During this week’s blitz, there will be three key health and enrollment events aimed at engaging young adults across Illinois (details below). In addition to attending any events, please RSVP at media@younginvincibles.org to join us for a call with the Surgeon General, Dr. Vivek Murthy, at 2:30 p.m. ET on Tuesday, Jan. 27, to learn about enrollment and outreach efforts and results this season.

“Millennials end up in the emergency room more than any other age group, except the elderly. With so many young people qualifying for discounted health plans that cost less than the price of a typical cell phone bill, it’s essential that we give our peers every opportunity possible to get covered in these final weeks of Open Enrollment,” said Eve Rips, Midwest director of Young Invincibles.

Last year’s Open Enrollment season showed that young Americans wait until late into the Enrollment season to get covered – nearly 52% of young adults enrolled during the final month last year – and so if the enrollment pattern from last year continues, enrollment efforts for young adults will surge from now until February 15, the deadline to choose a new plan this season.

Please be in touch with any questions.
