Washington, D.C.Young Invincibles has released the following statement by Executive Director Jen Mishory in response to new U.S. Census data showing that 20 percent of Millennials live below the poverty line.

“New U.S. Census data showing that 1 in 5 Millennials is living in poverty is a blow to our collective conscience and confirms what we have known for some time: this generation was hit by years of decreasing wages and then further pummeled by the Great Recession. Despite being the most educated generation in American history, Millennial wages have dropped twice as fast as they have for older workers. We need to invest in our workforce, bolster access to skills and degrees, and connect our education system to growing fields.”
