Young Invincibles’ letter to Chairman Bobby Scott on the College Affordability Act

Congress has missed its deadline by 6 years and counting to reauthorize the Higher Education Act, which establishes the federal government’s role in making college more affordable, institutions accountable, and the civil rights protections of students upheld.

The College Affordability Act recently introduced by House Education and Labor Committee Chairman Bobby Scott takes a comprehensive approach to updating the Higher Education Act for the needs of today’s students. This bill is a strong start, but we believe it could be improved to ensure every student has access to an affordable, high-quality college education that prepares them for success after graduation.

That’s why we sent a letter to Chairman Scott presenting our views on both the bill’s strengths and areas of potential improvement. Read the letter from Executive Director Rachel Fleischer
