Young Invincibles Files Motion Seeking to Defend Health Care Reform in Florida District Case

Young Invincibles filed a motion in the Northern District of Florida, requesting that Judge Roger Vinson grant permission to the organization to file an amicus brief supporting the governments position in its Motion for Summary Judgment defending the health reform law.

lady%20justiceYoung Invincibles’ motion describes the important perspective young adults bring to the case, and contrasts the staggering uninsurance rate of that population, with the enormous benefit health reform brings to the health, finances, education, and mobility of a generation that often lacks affordable coverage.

Health care reform is not only constitutional, it is critical for millions of uninsured young adults across the country. The minimum coverage provision and the dramatic Medicaid expansion are two provisions that, if struck down, would leave millions of young Americans without the basic protections that health insurance provides, said Aaron Smith, executive director of Young Invincibles.

Judge Vinson ruled on Friday, November 10, 2010, allowing Young Invincibles to file our amicus brief.
