Young Invincibles Cheers Creation of Postsecondary Education Complaint System

New System Could Help Shine Light On Predatory Practices of Questionable Postsecondary Educational Institutions

[WASHINGTON]— Today, the U.S. Department of Defense, in partnership with the U.S. Departments of Veterans Affairs & Education, launched a complaint system to collect stories from students who have had negative experiences at postsecondary educational institutions. The complaint system is a consequence of a 2012 executive order stating that the Administration would investigate deceptive practices aimed at students who are veterans.

Rory O’Sullivan, Young Invincibles’ Policy & Research Director, released the following statement on today’s announcement:

“We applaud the U.S. Departments of Defense, Veterans Affairs, and Education for creating a complaint system for veterans who have experienced deceptive tactics from post-secondary institutions, including for-profit colleges. These students deserve our recognition and respect, not predatory recruiting or crushing student debt.”
