Young Invincibles and Advocates Met with Key Legislators in Sacramento at their Advocacy Day
(Sacramento, CA) – On Wednesday, Young Invincibles’ West office traveled with their Young Advocates Program (YAP) cohort to the California State Capitol in Sacramento to advocate for the needs of young adults in California.
In preparation, Young Invincibles hosted a panel discussion with key advocates in the higher education and health care spaces on Tuesday night. On Wednesday, advocates met with legislators to discuss higher education, health care, and workforce-related issues, outlined in YI West’s 2023 Policy Priorities. This advocacy day provided a critical opportunity for young adults to connect directly with elected officials, voice their concerns, and have a seat at the table.
In response, Alfredo Camacho, West Regional Director for Young Invincibles said:
“Our Advocates never fail to amaze me. Fifteen young Californians traveled to Sacramento to talk with several elected officials about issues that directly affect them. They showed up prepared to have intentional and necessary conversations, advocate for change, and ensure that their voices were heard.
Their passion and determination to make a difference is truly inspiring. YI West will continue to uplift the voices and advocate for a seat at the table for young adults in California.”
