Young Coloradans Joined Together at Capitol During YI’s Advocacy Day
The day included art installations, critical conversations, and a seat for young adults at the table
(Denver, CO) – Friday, Young Invincibles hosted their annual day at the Colorado State Capitol and brought over 30 young adults to meet key legislators. Advocates will discuss critical issues outlined in their 2023 policy agenda.
The day started with an artivism event powered by the Generation Vaxxed Campaign. Young adults, partners, and legislators enjoyed and discussed art as a medium for activism. Following the artivism breakfast reception, current and former Colorado young advocates spoke with elected officials and engaged in the political process.
Young Coloradans met with over 15 legislators and discussed topics such as higher education supports and mental health and health care access. These conversations invited young adults to voice their concerns and desire for change.
In response, Kyra deGruy Kennedy, Rocky Mountain Regional Director at Young Invincibles said:
“Our day at the Capitol was a huge success. In addition to thought-provoking discussions around art and its role in activism, young Coloradans came prepared to have much-needed conversations with elected officials.
Advocacy days are essential in providing hands-on experiences for young adults and critical to creating a better future for young Coloradans. We will continue to make a tangible change for and with the young adults we represent and will keep giving them a seat at the decision-making table to have their voices heard.”
