Young adults are fighting to achieve the financial stability that allowed older generations to thrive. Through research and advocacy, YI is working to build a world where young people can earn, grow, and succeed.

Opening doors to financial freedom for the next generation.

Today, it often feels like the odds are stacked against young people striving for financial stability, and with good reason. Young Invincibles’ research shows that the economy simply isn’t working for our generation the way it did for those before us. That’s why we need bold, forward-thinking solutions designed for today’s realities. We’re fighting to make sure every young adult has access to good jobs, competitive pay, and a stable financial future.

YI works to ensure financial security and high-quality job prospects for young adults, especially those from underserved communities. We produce in-depth financial health reports that highlight trends and disparities in income, debt, wealth, and employment among young Americans. Our reports often underscore the disproportionate impact of economic downturns – like the Great Recession and Covid-19 pandemic – on young adults, particularly young people of color.

To address these challenges, YI advocates for policies that expand career training programs such as registered apprenticeships, and ensure opportunities to build relevant work experience, like paid internships, are readily available to all young adults. The job market is more competitive than ever, and we need policies that achieve better long-term employment outcomes for young adults. In the financial system, we push for policies that will help young adults to build wealth – from better wages to retirement savings to a fairer tax system.
