Texas Early Voting Offers Opportunity for Young Adults to Amplify Their Voices
(Austin, TX) – Today, early voting starts in Texas and runs from Monday, October 21st through Friday, November 1st.
Texas is known for having some of the most restrictive voting laws in the country. Earlier this year, Governor Greg Abbott initiated a purge of the state’s voter rolls, removing over one million “ineligible voters.” Voting is not only a fundamental right, but it also empowers young adults to influence policy and elect representatives who advocate for issues they care about.
Early voting allows voters to avoid long lines on Election Day and provides flexibility to vote when it best fits their schedule. Make sure to bring a valid photo ID, such as your driver’s license or passport, when heading to the polls. Additionally, it’s helpful to familiarize yourself with what’s on the ballot in advance. You can view the races you’ll be voting on and create a personalized ballot guide here.

In response, Travis Evans, Southern Regional Director at Young Invincibles said:
“Voting early is a crucial opportunity for young adults to exercise their rights and amplify their voices on the issues that matter to them. Early voting provides flexibility, allowing young adults to vote ahead of November 5th, avoid long lines, and cast their ballot when it best fits their schedule.
As the most diverse generation in history, young people represent a powerful and growing part of the electorate. After Texas attempted to potentially disenfranchise over a million voters, it is more important than ever that young people get to the polls to make their voices heard.
While the Presidential Election is on the ballot this year, it’s equally important to focus on key state and local elections that will directly impact their communities. Elected officials are meant to represent all of us—young adults must use their collective power to elect leaders who will prioritize and listen to their concerns.”
