Supreme Court Ruling Rules in Favor of Reproductive Freedom

Washington, D.C. — Moments ago, in a 5-4 decision, the United States Supreme Court rejected requiring admitting privileges of abortion providers across the state of Louisiana that would have dangerously limited access to abortion care.

In response to today’s ruling, Rachel Fleischer, Executive Director of Young Invincibles, issued the following statement:

“Today’s ruling is a victory for reproductive freedom in Louisiana and for all Americans. Louisianans seeking abortion services will not be threatened by unnecessary barriers, and doctors providing health care won’t be unduly targeted due to the type of medicine they practice and care they provide.

By rejecting unnecessary burdens to this health care service, the Court has once again upheld the fact that reproductive health care is basic health care – and abortion services should be available for anyone who seeks out that service. No administration, government, or court should make a decision about young people’s bodies or health for them.

While attempts to chip away at abortion access will continue, today’s decision is a huge victory that protects the constitutional rights of all Americans. Young Invincibles stands ready and committed to continue advocating for safe and legal health care for all young people across the country.”
