Student parents are a growing population nationally; more than 1 in 5 college students
identify as a parent. In Illinois, our very rough estimate is that about 14 percent of all
students are parents. But with barely any data on student parents in Illinois, we don’t know what specific barriers student parents face and how the state should invest its limited dollars.

That’s why your voices and lived experiences as student parents are so important now more than ever. Tell us about the hurdles you faced while going to school. What were some barriers to your success? Is there anything you want legislators to know?
