Even before COVID-19, New York’s college students struggled to afford groceries, rent, and other basic needs — not to mention tuition. Students cannot thrive in college when they can’t meet their basic needs, shelter, food, transportation, hygiene, and physical and mental health resources. Yet often, financial aid and scholarships don’t cover these costs.

Are you a New York college student who has looked for support to maintain housing, food, and other basic needs? We are collecting stories from students, to learn about how they were able to meet these needs — both before the COVID-19 crisis, and throughout the pandemic. We want to hear from you: How can your college better support you and your community?
