Statement on the Passing of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg
(Washington, D.C.) – Moments ago, United States Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, the first Jewish woman and just the second woman to serve on the high court, passed away from a long struggle with cancer.
In response Rachel Fleischer, Executive Director for Young Invincibles issued the following statement:
“Today we lost a trailblazer and titan of justice. Words could never match the lasting impact Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has had on the lives of millions of people. She dedicated her life to fighting for our most vulnerable, championed equality for all, and inspired generations beyond their wildest dreams to form a more perfect union.
Justice Ginsburg bent the Court towards more just, equitable, and fair outcomes. From fighting gender discrimination to protecting health care access, the decisions Justice Ginsburg argued served as turning points for the direction of our nation. Her impact on the court has meant laws are conscious of gender, age, and sexuality.
As we mourn her loss, we remember how much she valued youth leadership. Young people must continue her legacy and carry on her fight for progress in the face of unprecedented adversity.
The entire Young Invincibles team extends our condolences to the Ginsburg family, friends, staff, and the City of Brooklyn, New York.”
