Statement on National Voter Registration Day

(Washington, DC) – Every year, on the fourth Tuesday of September, we celebrate National Voter Registration Day, a nonpartisan civic commemoration of our democracy.

In response, Jesse Barba, Senior Director of External Affairs for Young Invincibles issued the following statement:

“Today on National Voter Registration Day, we’re urging all young people to use their power to register, mobilize new voters and get involved in one of the most consequential elections in our nation’s history. Voting is among the most important civic duties we have as members of this great American experiment of democracy.

This fall, young people will account for 37 percent of eligible voters and the largest segment of the electorate. Young people have the power in their hands to tip the scales. In 2020, young Americans have the opportunity to forge the path forward for our republic and build a more inclusive and just society for all. Despite young people being frustrated with the current process that makes it harder for us to vote – we are intent on maintaining, strengthening, and improving our democracy – not only for ourselves but for future generations.”
