[Washington D.C.] – Young Invincibles (YI), the nation’s largest young adult advocacy organization, is excited to announce that Rachel Fleischer has been selected as the next Executive Director. She will join the team on November 27, 2017. This selection was made by YI’s board of directors after an extensive nation-wide search.
Rachel has dedicated nearly two decades to leading organizations in building power and creating change. Most recently, she spent the last seven years leading some of Planned Parenthood’s largest health care and advocacy efforts, including a national consumer education program around the Affordable Care Act, the launch of Planned Parenthood’s $3 million dollar breast health initiative, and Planned Parenthood’s 100th anniversary celebration. She was also a driving force in the most recent campaign which successfully defeated congressional efforts to “defund” Planned Parenthood, and managed the Planned Parenthood Action Fund’s Independent Expenditure communications work during the 2012 Presidential campaign.
“Rachel Fleischer is a seasoned leader who brings tremendous strategic thinking, energy, and creativity to her work,” said Dawn Laguens, Executive Vice President and Chief Brand & Experience Officer, Planned Parenthood Federation of America. “She knows how to build campaigns that move people and policy. The combination of Rachel and Young Invincibles will be a very powerful one.”
Prior to Planned Parenthood, Rachel spearheaded numerous issue-based advocacy and communications efforts for a range of foundations, non-profit organizations, and political candidates at two award-winning consulting firms — Behr Communications and GMMB.
Fleischer said about her new position, “I’m thrilled to join Young Invincibles, as they are at the nexus of the most important issues shaping tomorrow — health care, higher education, and economic opportunity. It is a true honor to work with this incredible team to build on YI’s great successes, and further develop a program that ensures young people can lead the way driving policies that will help them succeed.”
