New Report: Women in the Workforce

WIW Web 2

YI Rocky Mountain is an organization that creates economic opportunity for young adults by amplifying their voices in the political process. We work to pass state policies and initiatives, and train diverse cohorts of young adults to effectively advocate for their community’s needs, focusing primarily on health care, higher education, basic needs, civic engagement and the workforce.

Report Done

In 2021, we researched the future of women’s involvement in the workforce, and we found that the child-care crisis, brought on in part by the pandemic’s effects, had a massive impact on women and families, especially in marginalized communities in Colorado. We believe that everyone deserves the opportunity and freedom to work and support their families, and child-care should not be a deciding factor for who is able to do that.

This report was informed by a survey which contains responses from 255 Colorado women who are parents or otherwise responsible for at least one child aged five or younger. The survey was conducted online via the Qualtrics platform in May of 2021. Participants were recruited via the Lucid survey platform.

If you are a working parent who has been impacted by inaccessible child-care or a lack of accommodations for caregivers in the workforce, we would love to hear from you and work with you to create positive change in Colorado. Please visit our story-telling webpage here if you have a personal story to share about how child-care impacted your ability to work.

This report was funded by a grant from the Women’s Foundation of Colorado.
