Unemployment rate 15.5 percent for Delawareans 16-24

In a time of across-the-board budget cuts, dismal job prospects continue to leave young Americans unsure about their economic future. Currently, young adults face a national unemployment rate of 16.2 percent, which is over twice the national average. In Delaware, the unemployment rate for young adults is more than twice the state average.

Recently, Young Invincibles released a detailed analysis of unemployment for young people in Delaware. Just 48 percent of 18-24-year-olds in Delaware who actually have jobs are employed full time; the average young adult in Delaware age 25 to 34 makes more than $5,000 less today than in 2005, and only 52 percent of young people ages 18 to 24 in Delaware have a job.
