Marketplace/Exchange

State Health Insurance Marketplaces (also called Exchanges) are websites where you can get information about health insurance, see a variety of insurance options, compare plans, and purchase insurance. Depending on whether or not your state chose to run to its marketplace, your state may run the marketplace or it may be run by the federal government. If you buy your insurance plan on the marketplace, you may be eligible for tax credits and/or subsidies to lower the cost of your plan, depending on your income level. The marketplaces will open October 1, 2013 to purchase coverage that starts on January 1, 2014.
