United Way is partnering with Young InvinciblesGet Covered America, the American Cancer Society, and others to promote National Youth Enrollment Day, Saturday, February 15. United Ways from Passaic County, New Jersey to Salina, Kansas to Ventura, California are engaging their United Way Emerging Leaders and Student United Way groups to spread the word and help young people enroll.

United Way knows that Americans are more financially secure and have greater peace of mind when they are covered with health insurance. Health insurance enables folks to access the care they need when they need it, and it protects them from personal bankruptcy in the event of serious illness or injury.

So following years of connecting low-income working families and their children to Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program, United Way is helping our neighbors understand their health options in this new age of health insurance reform. Open Enrollment is well underway.  And upwards of 25% of young adults are still uninsured.

From happy hours, to rallies, to word of mouth, these young leaders not only give what they can to advance opportunity for everyone in their communities, but they are helping with the work of improving the lives of their neighbors and friends.
