Young Invincibles’ Midwest Organizing Fellow and Chicago-native Daniel Jean Jr. writes for emPower Magazine about a model for millennial civic engagement and its potential to make a similar impact in states across the country:
“Roughly six out of ten prisoners in Illinois are black, even though blacks make up 15 percent of the state population. Young black adults, aged 18 to 34, have an unemployment rate of 22 percent, or more than double that of their white peers. Thirty-five percent of young black adults of the same age group lack health insurance, compared to 18 percent of white young adults.” Read more here.
