Nearly all young adults up to the age of 26 can now join their parent’s insurance, but there are a few exceptions:

• If you are eligible for your own insurance through an employer, you may not be eligible to join a parent’s plan.  Check with your parent’s employer.
•  Your parent’s plan must already offer coverage for dependent children.

You may not be able to join if your parent has a “retiree-only” plan.
