On March 12, YI wrote Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona to welcome him into his new role, present our organizational priorities for higher education, and offer our support for advancing student- and borrower-centered policies. We know how much work must be done to move forward after years of policies that exacerbated the student debt crisis and put student borrowers at risk. We are eager to strengthen borrower protections, relieve the burden of student debt for millions of young people, and put in place new policies that make higher education more affordable for future students.
