(Washington, DC) – Today, the Senate advanced its version of the “One Big Beautiful Bill,” bringing this legislation one step closer to becoming law. Even though the Senate version makes changes to the version passed by the House, the legislation still guts Medicaid, expands work requirements, threatens to strip young adults of vital aid, pushes college access out of reach, and ultimately fails young Americans.
The bill now returns to the House for it to reconcile the changes before being sent to President Trump’s desk by the self-imposed July 4th deadline.
In response, Krystal D. Milam, National Policy & Advocacy Director at Young Invincibles, said:
“Young people are being treated as collateral, and today’s vote makes that painfully clear. The Senate bill, even with changes from the version passed by the House, is a blatant attack on young people. Medicaid, SNAP, financial aid, and student loan repayment options are all being gutted to pay for tax cuts for the wealthy and well-connected. Young Americans deserve better than lawmakers who treat their future as bargaining chips.”
