(Washington, DC) – Today, the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) released a ruling that will uphold access to many critical preventive services covered under the Affordable Care Act (ACA), a victory for the millions of young adults who depend on no-cost screenings for behavioral health conditions, cancer, HIV and PrEP, and pregnancy care.

Despite SCOTUS ruling in favor of Secretary Kennedy, this decision is unlikely to be the final word on no-cost coverage of preventive services.

In response, Kristin McGuire, President and CEO of Young Invincibles, said:

“Access to preventive care is a cornerstone of public health and essential to the lives of millions of young adults and Americans. Thanks to this provision, over 150 million people have received life-saving preventive care without financial barriers, and today’s ruling ensures that this care can continue.

But this fight is far from over. Preventive care under the ACA has been under constant attack, and today’s decision leaves the door open for future efforts to erode this protection. Secretary Kennedy now holds significant power to shape what preventive care looks like in America, and we cannot take that lightly.

Young Invincibles remains steadfast in our mission to defend, strengthen, and improve the ACA and to ensure every young person has access to the care they need to live healthy, full lives.”
