(Washington, DC) – Today, the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) released a ruling that will uphold a South Carolina policy that bars individuals enrolled in Medicaid from receiving care at Planned Parenthood, limiting access to contraception, STI testing, cancer screenings, and other essential health services from their provider of choice.
In response, Kristin McGuire, Executive Director at Young Invincibles, said:
“Access to safe reproductive care is a cornerstone of health care. Upholding this blatantly discriminatory policy is a deliberate attack on low-income people, especially young adults, and on reproductive health care. Young people deserve the freedom to choose their health care provider, not be constrained by ideological misconceptions. We can not allow politicians to go to these extreme lengths to prevent people from getting the critical care they need. We must continue to fight for policies that prioritize health, equity, and personal autonomy over political agendas.”
