Annual check ups are important for keeping tabs on your health and catching any potential problems early. Even better, preventive care, like check-ups, are now FREE with a health plan.
What do you get out of a check up?
- Health status check
- Vaccines (ex. flu shot)
- STI & HIV tests
- Pap tests
- Mental health screenings
- Contraception (including birth control pills and devices like IUDs)
How can I get a check up for FREE?
I have health coverage
Examples: Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Bright Health, Cigna, Colorado Choice Health Plan, Elevate, Kaiser Permanente, Medicaid / Health First Colorado
If you have health insurance through your parents or spouse, your job, Connect for Health Colorado, or Medicaid (Health First), your plan will cover a FREE annual check up. However, you will need to see a health care provider that is in your plan’s “network” to get your check up for free.
How to find a provider in your network:
- Private insurance: visit your insurance plan’s website or call your plan to find “in-network” providers in your area.
- Medicaid: visit www.healthfirstcolorado.com/find-doctors or call 1-800-221-3943 to find a provider in your area.
When you call to make an appointment:
- Make sure the provider accepts your insurance and is taking new patients
- Tell them you are making an appointment for your FREE annual check up
I’m unsure / I don’t have health coverage
