Young Invincibles Wins Judges Award at Social Innovation Fast Pitch Competition

Health Care Finder Mobile App Pitch Chosen for Top Award

[LOS ANGELES, CA] – Last night, Young Invincibles won the $15,000 Judges’ award at the Social Innovation Fast Pitch competition, a two-month communication skills training program and competition for innovative nonprofits hosted by the Los Angeles Social Venture Partners.

Young Invincibles California Director Tamika Butler gave the winning presentation, highlighting YI’s new “Your Health Care Finder” mobile application that brings health care educational information to young adults. The mobile app helps users find where to go for a free clinic and how to enroll in insurance, among other educational aspects. The app is being rolled out this fall in communities around LA, with outreach specifically targeting low-income young adults. The app is free to download and is available on any smartphone. California currently has almost 3 million uninsured young adults.

“We were thrilled that the judges chose our project,” said Young Invincibles California Office Director, Tamika Butler. “This prize will help us educate more young people on their health care and health insurance options and help maximize the positive impact of the new health care law on young Americans throughout California.”
