Young Invincibles’ Statement On President Obama’s Fifth State of the Union Address

[WASHINGTON]— This evening, President Obama delivered his fifth State of the Union Address. Aaron Smith, Young Invincibles Co-Founder & Executive Director, released the following statement on the President’s remarks:

“With unemployment rates nearly twice the national average, young adults are continuing to suffer from the Great Recession. We need action. We are heartened that the vision delivered by the President this evening includes a strong commitment to young Americans. We look forward to working with the President and all of our leaders in Washington to make sure that vision becomes reality. By investing in job training programs, strengthening the Earned Income Tax Credit, addressing critical economic justice issues like the minimum wage, making a college education affordable, and continuing to implement the Affordable Care Act, we can begin to close the opportunity gap facing far too many in our generation and ensure everyone has a fair shot at financial security.”
