[Washington]– Last night, President Trump released the White House Immigration Principles and Policies, a “wishlist” of hardline immigration proposals including funding for a border wall. The President further demanded that these items “be included as part of any legislation” intended to address the September 5th elimination of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, a situation of legal uncertainty that the President tasked Congress with rectifying. Over 80 percent of Millennials would oppose the building of the border wall and, along with most voters, support giving DREAMers the opportunity to live fulfilling lives in the U.S and providing a path to citizenship.

“A few weeks ago the President threw the lives of hundreds of thousands of young people into limbo through his elimination of the DACA program. Now the administration has made clear that they will continue to play politics with their lives in order to pass a divisive and unpopular agenda. We urge Congress to reject the President’s attempt to use millions of young people as bargaining chips. Congress must pass the bipartisan DREAM Act and finally provide a clear and permanent path forward for these young people to live full lives in the only home they’ve ever known,” said Young Invincibles’ Press Secretary Allie Aguilera. “DREAMers who have grown up as our neighbors and friends deserve a chance to pursue education, work, and service in the United States without the fear of deportation.”
