Young Invincibles Sends Letter Urging Action On Student Plans

Today, Young Invincibles sent a letter to the administration urging prompt action regarding student health plans:

With 4.5 million young adults on student health plans, it is critical that these plans are not misclassified, but instead that HHS preserve strong consumer protections for students as allowed under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA). Young adults, a segment of the population whose health care is too often left to the mercy of low-quality insurance plans, desperately need the protections offered by reform. Congress provided extensive protections for health insurance consumers as a whole, but left some ambiguity as to which set of regulations would apply directly to student health plans. The classification of student health plans is critical in how they are regulated and must not be decided hastily or without serious deliberation.
