As a leading youth advocacy organization, Young Invincibles appreciates the opportunity to comment on this Notice and Request for Information on how the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau should respond to issues concerning private student loans and lending, and what information would help students make informed decisions about which financial services and products are right for them.
We felt that the best way to respond was to ask our members themselves about their experiences with private student loans. Before submitting comments, Young Invincibles conducted an online survey of young people with student debt, which was distributed to hundreds of thousands of student loan borrowers. We partnered with numerous organizations in our distribution, most notably Forgivestudentloandebt.com, MomsRising, Black Youth Vote, Young College Democrats, the League of Young Voters, Default: The Student Loan Documentary, SparkAction, and the Roosevelt Campus Network.
