A new report is calling the unemployment rate among young people “a crisis.”

An analysis by a group called the “Young Invincibles” shows that the national unemployment rate for young adults between the ages of 16 and 24 is 16.2 percent, or more than twice the national unemployment rate. In Delaware, the young adult unemployment rate is only slightly lower, at 15.5 percent.

The study finds that in Delaware, 52 percent of adults between the ages of 18 and 24 have jobs. Of those, only 48 percent have full-time jobs. Adults between the ages of 25 and 34 are making an average of over $5,000 less now than in 2005.
