Millennials Support the DREAM Act

On September 5, the Trump Administration announced its decision to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, a program that for five years allowed 800,000 undocumented young people to pursue education, military service, and work without fear of deportation. The Administration’s decision will reprioritize DACA recipients for deportation beginning on March 5th

The DACA recipients who have been left in legal limbo by this decision represent only a fraction of the nation’s 3.4 million DREAMers — undocumented young people that came to the United States as children and have only ever known the U.S. as home — many of whom were simply not old enough to apply for DACA or were otherwise ineligible under the program’s requirements.

The United States’ DREAMers, including current DACA recipients, need an immediate and permanent solution. And one is ready for a vote: the DREAM Act, is a bipartisan, bicameral bill that would provide a clear path forward to these critical members of America’s Millennial generation.
